FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How is EJ's different from other staffing agencies?
The mission of EJ's Staffing Services is different than most temporary staffing agencies because the company consistently puts people first. EJ's originally began as a non-profit organization focused on meeting the needs of people who were seeking opportunities to change their lives for the better. At EJ's, we consistently demonstrate our desire not only to provide excellent staffing services to our clients, but also to help people improve their professional skills and accomplish their career goals. We strive to make a difference in the community because we are a part of the community.

  2. As a business, how can EJ's help save me time and reduce my overhead expenses?
Whether you need an employee for a day or a year, EJ's can handle the screening, interviewing and skills testing for a potential job candidate-saving you a lot of time. Because all of the administrative paperwork, tax filings and payroll processing is handled by us, your HR overhead expenses are reduced.

  3. Does EJ's have access to EDI or EFT processing?
Yes. EJ's is equipped to handle Electronic Data Interchange, Electronic Data Exchange or Electronic Funds Transfer for efficient payment processing. Contact our office or fill out the online RFP/RFQ form to set up your EJ's account.

  4. What's included in the automated payroll processing services?
Automated payroll processing services include employee paycheck deductions for: state taxes, federal taxes, child support withholdings, additional taxpayer deductions, unemployment taxes, worker's compensation taxes and Medicare.

  5. If I work with a temporary staffing agency, who is my employer?
As a temporary employee for EJ's Staffing Services, you should contact our office if you have any questions or concerns. Although you are responsible for arriving at work on time and fulfilling your responsibilities at work, you should still report any issues or concerns to an EJ's representative who will then contact the job site on your behalf.

  6. How long do temporary job assignments usually last?
The length of temporary job assignments may be as short as one day or several years if the position becomes permanent. You should inform your EJ's representative if you're looking for a short-term or a long-term position.

  7. How much education or professional work experience do I need to work for a temporary staffing agency?
The amount of education or experience required depends upon the position and type of work you're seeking. Some jobs simply require an individual to have a willingness to work and follow directions, while others may seek someone with years of training in a specified area. EJ's primarily focuses on jobs in the administrative, clerical, food services, housekeeping, janitorial, light industrial, maintenance and repair industries.

  8. How old do I have to be to work for a temporary agency?
You must be at least 18 years old or have a valid work permit to be employed by a temporary staffing agency.

  9. How often will I get paid?
At EJ's, Friday is "pay day." Most long-term, permanent positions pay bi-weekly (twice a month) on Fridays. Short-term jobs that only last a few days pay at the end of each week.

  10. Will I get paid less working for a staffing agency?
Your pay rate for working does not decrease simply because you are employed through a staffing agency. Before accepting a position, your EJ's job representative will inform you of how much a job pays and how long it lasts.

  11. What benefits will I get as a temporary employee?
You will not receive health, dental or medical benefits as a short-term, temporary employee. However, should you accept a temp-to-perm or permanent assignment with an employer, you may be eligible for various benefits available through the hiring organization after a specified period of time.

  12. Will my paycheck already have taxes taken out?
EJ's Staffing Services will handle all the federal and state tax deductions as well as any child support payments or individual withholdings from your check. The amount you receive in your paycheck will accurately reflect the appropriate amounts.

  13. Can you explain the difference between "temporary," "temp-to-perm" and "permanent" job placements?

Temporary - a short-term assignment where the employee remains on the EJ's Staffing Services payroll. A potential employee may accept numerous temporary assignments throughout their career.

Temp-to-Perm - a position that starts out as a short-term assignment with the potential to become a long-term assignment if both the employer and the employee are agreeable to the terms and working conditions. The employee is initially on the EJ's payroll, and then becomes an actual employee for the company where they have been placed.

Permanent - employees are screened, interviewed and selected for permanent positions with the understanding they will be on a long-term assignment as an employee of the onsite hiring company.
